My dear friend, Mary Q., shared about the incredible story of the donation her incredible friend Toni gave to our ministry and her heart for our ministry!

Mary shared, "My friend, Toni, is a wonderful gal.  I have known her for almost 8 years.  We met at church.  She's a bit eccentric, but has one of the biggest hearts of anyone I've ever known.

Toni teaches Character Ed at Alpharetta Baptist Christian School. She is very intent on her students being in the word of God and teaching them about God's holiness and reading scripture and memorizing verses. She does not mess around in her classroom. She holds order and maintains discipline in her classroom. The children are very well behaved for her. I've heard from other staff members commenting on how Ms. Toni's class is always so well mannered and not running around wild.  I'll get pictures from her from time to time of the kids snuggled up on and under blankets and reading their Bibles or writing in their journals.  Every child gets their own personal Bible and journal from Ms. Toni every year.

Toni is single, and I would say had a difficult family life.  She never married and has no children.  She has been on numerous mission trips to Ukraine and to Africa, and has visited Israel twice. When she saw the pictures recently of Rachel in Uganda at the Gateway School -- and with those beautiful school children in the classroom and out in the yard, she was so touched.   Because Toni is such a great hostess and likes to cook for her friends (but rarely lets us bring anything), we donate to this little pot she has. Toni determinedly took out that bit of money in that pot and wrapped it in an envelope and she gave it to me and she said, with no-nonsense, "This is for the schoolchildren.  You give this to Rachel for the schoolchildren." So I brought it to Rachel wrapped up exactly how Toni gave it to me. I don't know if it's $10 or if it's $100 but she wanted His Love and SONshine to have it.

I just keep on being blessed by Rachel and HL&S children and Charles (and Toni)!

God is Awesome.

I love you, Rachel Mary!

    Rachel Guy

When Rachel Guy was in elementary school, she was fascinated by children in African countries; her heart was particularly drawn to children who had been orphaned.  At the age of twelve, the country of Uganda became the focus of Rachel’s interest and concern when a close family friend, Nancy Wellham, invited her to join her on a mission’s trip there.  It was on this trip that Rachel visited Gateway Nursery and Primary school and fell in love with the people there.  Four years ago, Rachel was shocked when she was invited to start a ministry for the school.  With humility and gratitude, she said, “Yes” to this unlikely adventure with God.
