Dear friends, This is Rachel Guy with His Love and SONshine!
I am sorry I have been so absent in sending out an update! I cannot express my gratitude for your prayer and financial support for the ministry! You all have sustained this ministry for 8 years!!! 8 years!! Love you all!!! And with that, the ministry just received an extraordinarily generous donation from dear friends just today so shout out to the McEvoys! Thank you my dear amazing friends!! Also, We will be starting child sponsorship with the organization, Bright Point, in 2023, and we have been working on the details leading up to the sponsorship! I wanted to send to you all an update from Frank, the President of Gateway Nursery and Primary School, as he wrote this update for you all!! This update is from him for you! Love you all! Frank writes to you all, "GATEWAY EDUCATION SERVICES First and Second Term 2022. Dear Supporters, I greet you in the name of the almighty God and trust all is well. Allow me to present to you the report on activities that have been taking place at the school and the plan we have for the next year. After the closure of schools in 2020 and with the covid19 effects we kept on opening in phases until 2022 when we fully resumed. We were able to reopen all classes from Nursery to Primary seven with declining numbers. There are many students who are continuing to come to school despite, there being many students who are dropping out. The following reasons for dropping out are feeding at home, and not having the school supplies to allow them to be in school hence the variation in numbers. The school has been hugely affected by the cough and flu, however, the teachers continued to teach. We appreciate the efforts and determination of teachers during these hard times, they have been resilient and committed to teaching with exception of a few who have changed areas of work for one reason or the other. Teachers’ names will keep on varying as they come and go." Frank shares, "THE FIVE-YEAR STRATEGIC PLAN 2023 – 2024 1. The need to have a National Flag (Ugandan, East African, Buganda`s and school) and Flag pole. 2. To improve on the nutrition and sustain the feeding of the teachers and the pupils this will require a school land for farming so that the harvests will reduce on the expenses."

Rachel GuyWhen Rachel Guy was in elementary school, she was fascinated by children in African countries; her heart was particularly drawn to children who had been orphaned. At the age of twelve, the country of Uganda became the focus of Rachel’s interest and concern when a close family friend, Nancy Wellham, invited her to join her on a mission’s trip there. It was on this trip that Rachel visited Gateway Nursery and Primary school and fell in love with the people there. Four years ago, Rachel was shocked when she was invited to start a ministry for the school. With humility and gratitude, she said, “Yes” to this unlikely adventure with God. Archives
