MORE LITTLES AND OLDER CHILDREN GETTING AN EDUCATION WITH CEMENT FLOORS IN THAT AREA RATHER THAN HUGE THICK, DIRT FLOORS!!!!!! These floors were donated by another ministry and we are thanking Jesus for how He raises up many to be involved in HIS purposes! Thankful hearts!!!! Glory to God!Rachel Thanks to all of you and your generosity in faithful prayers and financial contributions, over $20,000 has been raised in the last 12 months as of February!!!! We are praying this year God provides even more people to catch the vision for these precious children and their school and that we raise over $20,000 again by February 2017.:) Thank you all for partnering with us in prayer and monthly donations and 1 time donations too. May God Bless you 1,000 fold!!!!!!
Spotlight on Moses & Martha!
Your monthly donation will go to impact Moses and Martha and children like them. Precious souls rescued from the prison system and now taken in by the Bwerenga community and being educated by the Hope International School. Help us continue the healing by praying & donating monthly! This story comes from Emily Ryan. She is a wonderful young woman who worked on the ground in Uganda with the organization Sixty Feet, bringing hope and restoration to imprisoned children in Africa in Jesus' name. Emily spent much time with the school community in Bwerenga. She saw first hand the children taken in and rescued by Sixty Feet from the prison system and embraced by this school. Your donations help support and make it possible for formerly imprisoned children to get an education. Moses and Martha, brother and sister, were living on the streets of Kampala with their mom. Everyday their mom would take them to beg on the streets in order to have food to eat. One day city authorities came through the city, as they regularly do, and picked up all the street children, taking them to the M1 prison. Upon arrival at the M1 prison, Sixty Feet staff immediately identified that Martha was severely malnourished. Therefore, Sixty Feet worked with the government to remove Moses and Martha from the prison, wanting to keep them together since they were siblings. Sixty Feet worked with Mama Catherine and Pastor Earnest in Bwerenga, who immediately said "Yes, we will take them into our home!" Mama Catherine and Pastor began feeding, loving, and caring for Moses andMartha and they began to thrive. Martha gained weight quickly and Moses started school at Hope International, his first time to ever go to school. Hebecame great friends with the other kids at Mama Catherine's house and now has a whole new family. Last year, Martha started school at Hope Internationalas well! She is in Baby Class and Moses is in Kindergarten. Sixty Feet found Moses and Martha's parents and are working to help bring restoration in all areas of their lives so that they can provide for and love their own children. For now though, it is clear that the best place for Moses and Martha is in Bwerenga with Mama Catherine and Pastor, where they are attending school at Hope International, being taught about Jesus everyday, being fed well-balanced meals, and being loved by so many people! Through the support of Sixty Feet and HIS Love & SONshine, they are able to remain in this loving, supportive environment, where they are thriving as we work towards complete restoration for their family This photo illustrates for our donors the need for cement floors in the schools. This is one example of what can happen to feet and other parts of the body in schools and homes in Uganda where there are dirt floors. These fleas called jiggers infest feet and other body parts. Jiggers lay eggs once inside the body and hence multiply. They are difficult to remove AND we are compelled to share with you all the reality of what can happen when there are dirt floors in a school building. Please see school building photos of dirt floors on previous post. For more information regarding the effects of jiggers please read this informative article titled What are Jiggers? by Sole Hope, an organization that is working to solve the jigger problem in the region. image by R. Schuster, Wikimedia Commons We NOW have as of August 11th, $10,632 toward our goal of $20,000!! We are over half way there. Indebted to all who have prayed and contributed financially to make us get this far! Thank you for your kind, generous giving and for seeing Jesus' vision for this precious school community in Bwerenga Village. You are bringing them HIS love and SONshine! wink! Rachel GuyWhen Rachel Guy was in elementary school, she was fascinated by children in African countries; her heart was particularly drawn to children who had been orphaned. At the age of twelve, the country of Uganda became the focus of Rachel’s interest and concern when a close family friend, Nancy Wellham, invited her to join her on a mission’s trip there. It was on this trip that Rachel visited Gateway Nursery and Primary school and fell in love with the people there. Four years ago, Rachel was shocked when she was invited to start a ministry for the school. With humility and gratitude, she said, “Yes” to this unlikely adventure with God. Archives
