Charles, our child sponsorship coordinator, shares the other urgent need to see another child sponsored! Would you consider sponsoring this little girl? I cannot tell you ENOUGH how much your sponsorship impacts the children!!!
Charles shares, "Friends! I am also happy to share with you another story of this child called Devine Catherine Muwanguzi and her parent too. Divine is in Middle Class at Gateway Nursery and primary school and she is 5 years old. The father of this child is called Mr. Ronald Kawunye, and he lives in Bwerenga which is a central village. Ronald's job has a low income, because he's selling charcoal to earn a living in order to take care of his family. so he told me that, his job cannot sustain the whole family as well as paying school fees for his child. This father of Devine was brought by Pastor Ernest to me, Therefore he asked me if there is any other opportunity for his child to be sponsored. He highly welcomes the opportunity to his child sponsored."

Dear friends, I cannot express to you the IMPACT you are making through sponsoring children at Gateway! Our Child Sponsorship Coordinator, Charles, sent me the following update!!
Charles shares, "Hello Team, I hope everyone is doing very well. I am so happy to share a story with you about this child and her parent. This child's name is Shinah Ayebare. She was once a sponsored child here before, but time came and she disappeared from school for a long time, almost 4 weeks, and then it caused the administration of the school to be concerned as they thought that this child would not come back to school again. Last month, when I audited all the kids see their presence at school with the help of the administration, Shinah was the one the students who was removed from the program. But yesterday, when I made a trip to school, her parent brought her to school seeking again for sponsorship. Her mother goes by the name of MISS SAVIOR AIMBISA who lives in Bwerenga central village, and she is a single woman and her husband abandoned the family. Her job in the community is going around and washing the clothes for people, from different homes (Laundry) but she said this job earns very low income for her, and she could not be able to pay school fees for her child. Therefore, she is asking if there is any other opportunity for her child to be sponsored again, that will be great because she told me that she needs help!" ![]() Your impact over the past 9 years! Ava Weeks is a missionary to Uganda and is a dear friend of mine! She also is like family to the people of Gateway Nursery and Primary School and attends the Gateway Bible Church that is connected to the school. She has shared a powerful message with you all regarding your impact on the school! Ava shares, "Dear Friends of His Love and SonShine, Thank you so much for all you do to make life better for the children in Bwerenga, Uganda! Your support of the children at Gateway Nursery and Primary School is making a huge impact on the community as well as on the lives of the children. Without your support, many of these children would be aimlessly roaming the roads of the village looking for food and for something to occupy their time. Because of you, they are in school getting an education, eating nutritious food, and learning the Word of God. Child brides continue to be a big problem in Uganda. Girls who are not in school are often sold as child brides (girls as young as 13). When a girl is supported to get an education, her future is much more promising. You are giving these girls hope. Gateway Nursery and Primary School is blessed with gifted, dedicated teachers who are pouring into the lives of the children they teach. Thank you for supporting them through your prayers and your financial gifts. May God richly bless your faithfulness. Ava Weeks Gateway Bible Church Member Bwerenga, Uganda" Thanks to YOU His Love and SONshine has 27 children sponsored! See below the pictures of the children sponsored:)
See below the children who are sponsored with their parents! Thank you all for becoming child sponsors! You are making a huge difference and thank you, Charles Byaruhanga (our child sponsorship coordinator) for these incredible updates!

Our child sponsorship coordinator, Charles Byaruhanga, went to Gateway Nursery and Primary School April 12th! Charles is amazing and as always goes above and beyond! See below Charles' update that he shared with the board about his time at Gateway and some of the pictures he took!! PS in Charles’ report he mentions Jaaja Ava and Maddie. (Jaaja Ava (Jaaja pretty much means grandmother in Lugandan) and Maddie are missionaries in Uganda and Ava has been really engaged in the lives of the people at Gateway for years and is a part of the fabric of the community and was on our board for a while!!) Charles Byaruhanga shares in summary, "Hi team! I hope everyone is doing very well . I am so excited to share about my trip today to Bwerenga. It was such a blessing to meet Pastor Ernest and Mama Catherine again, and also meeting the students was another blessing too. My first day was a blessing because Jaaja Ava introduced me to our His Love and SONshine sponsored kids and to the headteacher Mr. Henrey and Pastor. I love the kids so much, at Bwerenga school! They were so excited and beautiful children . Jaaja Ava and Maddie and I were able to see all the sponsored children and we had time to help them to write the letters to their sponsors. I took a couple of pictures of each classroom from baby class to primary seven. I am going back to the school next week and will be sending pictures of each and every student and some stories and also other information about the kids. Have a blessed day!" Thank you, Charles, for the amazing pictures and update!!! God Bless, Rachel EXCITING NEWS!!
HIS LOVE AND SONSHINE hired Charles Byaruhanga to be our ministry's child sponsorship coordinator! Please welcome him to the team! Charles and his wife Dorcus and their daughters are longtime friends of my family and of some of the board members too! Charles and his wife have a huge heart for Gateway Nursery and Primary School and His Love and SONshine. We are so excited he and his family are officially a part of the His Love and SONshine team! The Bio and Job Description from Charles Byaruhanga, "My name is Charles Byaruhanga, 36years of age, married to Dorcus Byaruhanga. We have three daughters namely Hannah Zion, Delight Zion and Purity Zion. I am a founder of Ruhanga Eco-Safaris, a travel and tour company that embraces responsible tourism by conserving nature as we thrill our clients with social adventuring and geographical study. I met the director of HL&S it's now 6 years ago while working as a driver for GO-BE LOVE ministry and we became friends from that day onwards. I want to thank God for Rachel Mary, Madam Suzanne Guy, Madam Cindy and Mr Ken, who stood with me and my family during the Covid-19 pandemic, offering us the much-needed support at the time. At the beginning of this month, Madam Rachel Mary asked if I could take up the responsibility of working as a coordinator of HL&S at Gateway school. This was an obvious yes for me because it is a privilege and a blessing for me to serve the children. I had already developed interest in loving and ministering to the kids when I went to Gateway school earlier before. And I am looking forward to serve the kids through my essential duties and functions as stipulated below; • To Check and see if sponsored children are attending school at Gateway on a weekly basis, and a written report monthly, as HL&S sponsors are donating to assure their sponsored child is receiving an education. • Serve as a vital in-country communication link to HL&S and be present on all HL&S board zoom meetings. • Provide updates, including written information and photos, related to children and child sponsorships so that BrightPoint will be able to keep the HL&S website updated to maximize child sponsorship opportunities. • Coordinate with ministry partners to write and/or edit emails, letters, and other sponsorship stories/information as needed. • Maintain communication with ministry partners to collect and update sponsorship profiles and pertinent sponsorship information. In conclusion. I will be able to go to Bwerenga school 2 times a month. Please, keep my family in prayers for God's protection, provision, and good health in Jesus name! And I believe with the help of God I am excited to work with HLSM. God bless you all."
Dear monthly donors, This is Rachel Guy and the board of His Love and SONshine who are copied on the email. Over the past few months the His Love and SONshine board and I have prayerfully decided to, by this month of February, transition from sending funds to teachers’ salaries to strictly send funds for child sponsorship. We appreciate your monthly donation and through prayerful consideration the board and I feel it is more beneficial to donate directly to the students so we are transitioning over from teacher to student sponsorship. In order for this to happen we invite you to choose your child to sponsor and you will be able to befriend the child by writing letters to the child/student. :) You would go to www.Hisloveandsonshine.organd click “become a child sponsor” and pick a child to sponsor. We are working with Bright Point who is the one who does child sponsorship and has listed the children for the school. Beginning this month, we are trying to work on supporting the neediest of children so their tuition and other school expenses will be paid. The money if you choose to transition your monthly donation from teachers’ salaries to instead go to child sponsorship go to Hisloveandsonshine.organd click “become a child sponsor” and find a child to sponsor them. Through transiting funds from paying for teachers salaries to child sponsorship it will still go to the school’s operation, but we will no longer be responsible for paying the salaries of the teachers. The school’s administrators will be doing that from the operating funds that child sponsorship brings in. Our emphasis is shifting to support the children who need it most. This encourages more autonomy and growth for those who run Gateway, and less “western interference.” At the same time, we are hoping – and expecting – that Gateway’s board of directors will soon include one or two members of the His Love and SONshine. They can offer mentorship in good accounting practices and will provide better transparency for the use of your funds. What does this mean for you? Bright Point will provide the exciting details of how this works. We think you will enjoy the blessing of your generosity even more, being connected to someone who is directly benefitting from your kindness. Should you wish to check out Bright Point: Website: https://brightpointforchildren.org/ (770) 559-9338 connect@brightpointforchildren.org God Bless, Rachel |

Rachel GuyWhen Rachel Guy was in elementary school, she was fascinated by children in African countries; her heart was particularly drawn to children who had been orphaned. At the age of twelve, the country of Uganda became the focus of Rachel’s interest and concern when a close family friend, Nancy Wellham, invited her to join her on a mission’s trip there. It was on this trip that Rachel visited Gateway Nursery and Primary school and fell in love with the people there. Four years ago, Rachel was shocked when she was invited to start a ministry for the school. With humility and gratitude, she said, “Yes” to this unlikely adventure with God. Archives
