Update:

Charles sent me the following updates regarding Teddy!!

“ Hi Rachel Mary, good question. I have just got the updates about SUUBI Teddy, she's recovering day by day, and God is good.

So there's much hope for discharging her from the hospital next week. But I will definitely be keeping you posted. Have a blessed day my family. She's now able to eat, I talked to the caretaker of Teddy today and Henry (the principal of Gateway school) too. The blood that was flowed to the brain, because of the immediate treatment was given to her, and it's now recovering slowly from her brain problem.”

The money we sent over for the children who are staying with Pastor and Mama have been able to also feed the three older kids who are Teddy’s teenagers. They are staying at their home and are not with Pastor and Mama because they want to keep their house for their mom. They go to their house to get food from Pastor and Mama. Thank you all for praying!!!

​ Two updates from Charles regarding the mother who was in the accident and who 5 of the 8 children were taken in by Pastor and Mama. Again, Pastor is the director of the school. 
Update regarding the items our ministry bought and them being delivered. See pictures and updates from Charles below.  And the second update from Charles is the one he received about the kids mother.  The photos say it all. 

1. Charles sent me an update of the food and items bought and he then delivered for the children whose mom is in the hospital!! 
He sent the following pictures and and video below of him seeing the children. 5 of the 8 kids are sponsored by Gateway! He visited the children’s home! It will make you cry. 


Charles said, “Hi Rachel Mary good morning from Uganda I hope you are doing well my family.

Yes wonderful, yesterday I was able to purchase All the items and food relief, and took to pastors home. 

I thank God I was able also to meet the children, I met the 7 children out of 8, because the older girl was at school and she's doing her exams.

I was also able to go with pastor Ernest and to see the house of this of 8 children, so in my small video I made I explained how life treats the this family so sad. 

Thanks so much His love and sonshine ministry for standing with this family and helping me with food relief.”



2. The other update is also from Charles sharing how the children’s mother is doing. 

Charles sent the following forwarded update about the mother. He said, “UPDATES ABOUT THE MOTHER OF THE CHILDREN. Hello friends, let's continue to pray for the mother, when I was in Entebbe at school, I was able to get the updates from hospital . Teddy who's the mother of 8 children, she's now recovering slowly and getting better each day. Let's continue praying for her for quick recovery so that she comes back home and see her children. This is now the picture shows the condition”

The first day Charles and I went to Gateway we had a meeting with the principal. It was such a gift! We learned so much! One of the main things that was important to hear is that some of the parents at the school are fishermen and some are lawyers. 

Charles is absolutely incredible!!! Here is a picture of his family! His wife is Dorcus and his eldest, in the middle is Hannah, his second is Delight Zion and his youngest is Purity Zion.

The school does vocational training with the children such as the principal bringing the older children to a bakery and them learning this skill!! I’ll send pictures later ☺️


They are also learning to care for bunnies☺️

The principal is a very educated man! He also meets with the teachers to go over their lesson plans and to see how it went after they taught as well. He so pours into the teachers and he teaches I believe a specific subject for 5-7th grade. 

Charles passed out the child sponsorship notes to the children and they were encouraged to bring their notes home to read to their moms and dads, not at school because not all of the children have a sponsor and not all of the children need a sponsor.

Charles passed out the notes for the children to fill out for their sponsors. We collected most of them the first day and then the rest the second day. 

We met with the amazing director of the school who I’ve known for years. He and his wife are incredible!!! They are local Ugandans! The director’s name is Pastor Ernest and his wife is Mama Catherine. (I will send you all a copy of Pastor Ernest and Mama Catherine’s book of a biography written about their life) 

They have been married for 50 years, people don’t even live to 50 in Uganda, and for 40+ years they have taken in over 200 children to care for them! 

 Second day 
The teachers at the school, which I met them on the 2nd day of our trip to the school, are absolutely amazing!!! They love Jesus and the children!!! Culturally in Uganda children are not poured into by their teachers and the ratio to student is 1 teacher for 100 students, in the public school.  Clearly this is not so in the school but just sharing how different in a great way Gateway is!

I believe at the beginning of the day they have prayer and devotions. They so put the Lord first!! 

Also, if children are not able to pass
the national exam they make sure the child knows a trade so they can find a job.

This school leadership is absolutely beautiful and exceptional!!!

The blog is written by our Child Sponsorship Coordinator who checks in on the children and teacher at Gateway and he is incredible taking pictures and videos of the children to update the sponsors. The impact, if you feel so led to become a child sponsor, child sponsorship has made! See below this blog I posted on our site a few months ago. Devine Catherine is sponsored FYI but this story below shows the impact of child sponsorship and the need for it.
The blog below states, "Charles shares, ‘Friends! I am also happy to share with you another story of this child called Devine Catherine Muwanguzi and her parent too.
Divine is in Middle Class at Gateway Nursery and primary school and she is 5 years old.
The father of this child is called Mr. Ronald Kawunye, and he lives in Bwerenga which is a central village. Ronald's job has a low income, because he's selling charcoal to earn a living in order to take care of his family. so he told me that, his job cannot sustain the whole family as well as paying school fees for his child. This father of Devine was brought by Pastor Ernest to me, Therefore he asked me if there is any other opportunity for his child to be sponsored. He highly welcomes the opportunity to his child sponsored."
 
I have seen the notes many of you have written for the child/children you sponsor! They are so precious and incredible!
