Dear His Love and SONshine-Uganda ministry-partners,
This is Rachel Mary Guy.:)

I wanted to send you all a His Love and SONshine update with a few pictures and a video that were taken last month which shows the food people at Gateway bought because of donations that were given just like Tague and his family gave which were set aside to be used for the urgent need for food.:)

Frank Bwakya, the Headmaster of Gateway Nursery and Primary School, shares in summary,
"Greetings from Gateway,
Update regarding the coronavirus:
The coronavirus continues to surge and more restrictions are being recommended in the states.
In Uganda cases of infections had declined but two weeks back numbers are starting to go up in the countryside and people are still dying. So many are having corona but few go for checkups and they have returned to home treatment. Vaccination is going on
Places of worship are still restricted for normal services and we are waiting to hear from the president’s address, schools remain closed up to now though different stakeholders are engaging the responsible line ministry on the issue of opening schools.
The lockdown still hits hard as more people are losing employment, businesses closing and incomes are getting tricky every other day.
The teachers at Gateway school are all fine and healthy including the students. The teachers have continued teaching learners grouped in different homes. And learners have responded positively with parents being supportive to this kind of learning and teaching. It’s tedious on the side of the teachers but they have braved every situation to meet the learning needs of our students. However, we intended to suspend the program and go on a short holiday in case the corona cases continue to surge.
The families of our students and parents are struggling in meeting the daily needs. We have usually met and shared their difficulties, prayed and helped where we can. We have two parents suffering from a stroke, each with six children, and it’s only the mother taking care. Other parents are at home since they were stopped from work. There are those who used to work in flower farms, shopping malls, restaurants, tailoring. They no longer work.
We are still studying the situation and trying to figure out how we can help them if we can.
God bless you, we love you.
Frank

    Rachel Guy

When Rachel Guy was in elementary school, she was fascinated by children in African countries; her heart was particularly drawn to children who had been orphaned.  At the age of twelve, the country of Uganda became the focus of Rachel’s interest and concern when a close family friend, Nancy Wellham, invited her to join her on a mission’s trip there.  It was on this trip that Rachel visited Gateway Nursery and Primary school and fell in love with the people there.  Four years ago, Rachel was shocked when she was invited to start a ministry for the school.  With humility and gratitude, she said, “Yes” to this unlikely adventure with God.
