I posted earlier this year.:) A portion of an email update from Ava Weeks!
"I was out at school today and took a couple of pictures of the children in their new uniforms. They are still waiting on the rest of the uniforms to be finished. I need to get a close up of the school logo. It is beautiful. I was able to take out two computers for the school to use and I found out that the computers being used for the students (I think there are 5) are also being shared with the office. Now they can have one just for the office and 6 for the children.
Amos also told me that they are borrowing a printer because they desperately need one! Can you imagine that they have been working without a printer for the past 4-5 years? Someone gave money for a copy machine last year, but unfortunately it wasn't used for that. We talked about the price of a copy machine that also prints, etc. and the cost is about $800. With the building they are in right now, we can't put a copy machine in because it will get stolen - one more reason we need a permanent structure!!

They started last week with 78 students and are now up to 150. They said that people will keep bringing new students through the first term which ends in May. We're still praying to reach 200-250.

The atmosphere at the school is wonderful!! The teachers are working hard and the children are so happy! Can't wait for you to get to see all of it in July!!!

Love,
Ava"

    Rachel Guy

When Rachel Guy was in elementary school, she was fascinated by children in African countries; her heart was particularly drawn to children who had been orphaned.  At the age of twelve, the country of Uganda became the focus of Rachel’s interest and concern when a close family friend, Nancy Wellham, invited her to join her on a mission’s trip there.  It was on this trip that Rachel visited Gateway Nursery and Primary school and fell in love with the people there.  Four years ago, Rachel was shocked when she was invited to start a ministry for the school.  With humility and gratitude, she said, “Yes” to this unlikely adventure with God.
