Dear monthly donors, This is Rachel Guy and the board of His Love and SONshine who are copied on the email. Over the past few months the His Love and SONshine board and I have prayerfully decided to, by this month of February, transition from sending funds to teachers’ salaries to strictly send funds for child sponsorship. We appreciate your monthly donation and through prayerful consideration the board and I feel it is more beneficial to donate directly to the students so we are transitioning over from teacher to student sponsorship. In order for this to happen we invite you to choose your child to sponsor and you will be able to befriend the child by writing letters to the child/student. :) You would go to www.Hisloveandsonshine.organd click “become a child sponsor” and pick a child to sponsor. We are working with Bright Point who is the one who does child sponsorship and has listed the children for the school. Beginning this month, we are trying to work on supporting the neediest of children so their tuition and other school expenses will be paid. The money if you choose to transition your monthly donation from teachers’ salaries to instead go to child sponsorship go to Hisloveandsonshine.organd click “become a child sponsor” and find a child to sponsor them. Through transiting funds from paying for teachers salaries to child sponsorship it will still go to the school’s operation, but we will no longer be responsible for paying the salaries of the teachers. The school’s administrators will be doing that from the operating funds that child sponsorship brings in. Our emphasis is shifting to support the children who need it most. This encourages more autonomy and growth for those who run Gateway, and less “western interference.” At the same time, we are hoping – and expecting – that Gateway’s board of directors will soon include one or two members of the His Love and SONshine. They can offer mentorship in good accounting practices and will provide better transparency for the use of your funds. What does this mean for you? Bright Point will provide the exciting details of how this works. We think you will enjoy the blessing of your generosity even more, being connected to someone who is directly benefitting from your kindness. Should you wish to check out Bright Point: Website: https://brightpointforchildren.org/ (770) 559-9338 [email protected] God Bless, Rachel

Rachel GuyWhen Rachel Guy was in elementary school, she was fascinated by children in African countries; her heart was particularly drawn to children who had been orphaned. At the age of twelve, the country of Uganda became the focus of Rachel’s interest and concern when a close family friend, Nancy Wellham, invited her to join her on a mission’s trip there. It was on this trip that Rachel visited Gateway Nursery and Primary school and fell in love with the people there. Four years ago, Rachel was shocked when she was invited to start a ministry for the school. With humility and gratitude, she said, “Yes” to this unlikely adventure with God. Archives
